Frequently asked questions
- How do I test my screen for dead pixels?
- Click Fullscreen, then click or press → to step through each colour. On every colour, scan the whole screen slowly from a normal viewing distance. A dot that does not match the colour around it is a faulty pixel.
- What is the difference between a dead and a stuck pixel?
- A dead pixel stays black on every colour, so it shows up best on white. A stuck pixel stays lit in one colour (red, green or blue) and is easiest to see on black. A hot pixel stays white and also stands out on black.
- Can a stuck pixel be fixed?
- Sometimes. Stuck pixels can occasionally recover after hours of use or by gently cycling colours over the area; dead pixels usually cannot be repaired. Test new monitors and phones right away so you can return them within the warranty or retailer window.
